Themed Outlet Shopping!

Nagashima.Outlet Mall
Our first trip to a japanese outlet mall. It was actually pretty good, it had Timberland, Nike, Canterbury (NZ) and others that had some larger size clothes and shoes. The Nagashima website contains a map and a list of shops.I only discovered later that the mall is a 'Theme' mall. It is part of a chain of outlet malls each one with a different theme. (Jazz, Blossoms, Nantucket, Provence etc) .
"Jazz Dream is an evocation of New Orleans, which is similarly located at the delta end of the Mississippi River in the U.S., and the town is designed around the strange dreams of an imaginary New Orleans jazz musician named Buddy. With its motifs based on the places in Buddy's dream--the jazz clubs and music halls, Mardi Gras and Mississippi steamboats--Jazz Dream provides an atmosphere of fun and celebration that is more theme park than outlet mall." - Description from the Offical website
It was very colourful and there was a (high school?) jazz band playing while we were there.
Shopping...Worth it?
Well, I prefer shopping at Toki outlet mall. Toki is not as whacky in its design, does not have a roller coaster park next door, but does have shopping that suited me more. Nagashima has some top brands but how often do you buy Dolce and Gabana? It is interesting and worth a visit but more designer stuff than practical. (If anyone disagrees then email me and I will add the comments)
Also I live closer to Toki.

When we went in to the park we were given cards. When you make a purchase you give over the card to be swiped and at the end of the day you go to a group of machines near the exit, put in your card and if you spent enough you get some cash back ($5 for us!)

A pretty standard Japanese Ice coffee (from the Frog Cafe at Nagashima). The two small jugs contain milk and a sweet gum syrup so that you can mix the ice coffee to your own preference.

Thanks Jan (We always seem to be here with Jan!)

Come worship at Dolce and Gabana.

Thanks Jan
Scenes from.the Drive over
We live a fair distance from Nagashima and we have to cross the city to get to it. It can be an interesting drive crossing the ports.
We went over some fairly big bridges when we crossed over the port area

Big bridge
The port was huge. Cranes everywhere

Getting Close - We can see the Roller Coaster.
There is a large amusement park beside the shopping centre. Check out the collection of rides here for a park Map. or here for the website for the park .
