Hongo photos
These are not meant to be pretty photos and they are not well taken. The idea was to walk around our neighborhood and take some photos of what it looks like. Probably no interest to people in Japan, but for those who have not been over here it is a look at what the streets are really like.
You will notice a lot of apartments. Remember we are on the edge of town. Apartments are very common in Japan and housing density is much higher than it is in Australia.
Hongo is an recent development, an upmarket suburb on the edge of Nagoya. Somewhere older and inner city is going to look quite different. This though has been our experience. If other people have taken photos of their areas let me know and I will add a link.

There is not the same distinction between housing and commercial/industrial zones that there is in Australia. This place does custom cars
At the end of the street we pass the car park for the golf shop.
Down near the station there are a range of restaurants and shops.
This is outside Hongo station. You can see the subway and a Spanish restaurant in the foreground on the right.

More shops Opposite the station. This is an Izakaya, a type of bar/eatery.
Still beside Hongo station. Just some signs, You can see that there is English on a number of them
Most apartment complexes have names.
Fairly green in these shots. Please remember that it is one of the greenest times of year. Also note how wide the street is. This is a two way street and this width is fairly common, especially in older areas.

Parking lot at the 7-11. Most shops have there own parking.
Komeda Coffee. The shops are usually smoky, the coffee is not great, but they are an institution
Local Pachinco Parlour. There are a number in the area
Most people keep their own gardens well and there are some beautiful gardens in our area. Other areas do get a little overgrown. There is a lot of rain and plants grow well.

This is not on a main street. All the surrounding buildings are houses. The drink machine is a bit odd.
